Our Summer 2011 cover shot is a beauty. For years we've hemmed and hawed over how to include even more pictures from the series we take when we shoot the cover. Until now. We are excited to be able to share with you a number of photos from the garden of Carrie and Dave Wells along with a bit of back-story.
(from Matters Magazine) Carrie and Dave Wells sometimes joke that she is the brains and he’s the brawn behind their stunning garden on DeHart Road in Maplewood.

Fifteen years ago, Dave tried to convince Carrie to remove a small patch of their front yard for a garden. She thought it was a terrible idea but he won out and now their perennial garden has grown, patch by patch. Carrie loves the planning, weeding and pruning, and Dave enjoys the heavy work. They both feel like old friends return season after season and share their beauty for several months.

Now retired, they can often be found in their front yard or appreciated the view from their cozy front porch.
The Wells have lived in
Maplewood nearly 40 years after a time in NY, meeting and marrying. Actually Carrie was coming home having grown up in Maplewood. Now retired they spend a lot of their time in the garden.

Their
rainbow flag is their tribute to choice, “which everyone should have,” says Carrie.
